where my great grandma shepard came over to america in 1905 with her parents from ireland when they arrived here she was abandened and live in an orphanage till the early 1920s then shipped out to iowa on the orphan train to relieve oversrowding . before she died she found most of her brothers and sister who where also abandend . when i went over to her house when i was young she was always upbeat and told me stories of being young and irish in brooklyn how she was looked down upon. she utimately died alone but now that ive gottten older i have been trying to trace her roots to see where does the family come from that is now a life goal
